Understanding the Model

What Are Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS)?

Electronic Manufacturing Services refers to companies that design, manufacture, test, and service electronic assemblies and systems on behalf of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). An EMS partner handles the production complexity — sourcing, assembly, quality control, and logistics — so that the OEM can focus on product development and go-to-market.

For Indian OEMs, startups, and PSUs, working with a certified EMS company in India eliminates dependence on overseas manufacturing, reduces lead times, and aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India and PLI scheme objectives for electronics.

VIT provides the full spectrum of electronic manufacturing services from a single integrated facility — SMT assembly, through-hole assembly, PCBA, box build, design engineering, and testing — under one ISO and IATF certified quality system.

What We Do

End-to-End EMS Capabilities

SMT Assembly

Three Siemens SMT lines with a combined capacity of 206,700 CPH. Component placement from 0201 passives down to 0.3mm fine pitch QFPs, BGAs, LGAs, and CSPs. Every line has dedicated AOI post-reflow. Capable of handling up to 16-layer PCBs.

PCB Assembly (PCBA)

Complete surface mount and through-hole PCB assembly under a single roof. Incoming material inspection, solder paste printing with automated SPI, pick and place, reflow soldering, wave soldering at 6,000 boards per day, AOI, X-Ray inspection for critical components, and functional testing. All under the control of an integrated ERP system.

Box Build Manufacturing

Full electromechanical assembly including wiring harness integration, cable assembly, mechanical sub-assembly, ultrasonic welding for plastic enclosures, and final system-level assembly. Plant 2 is a dedicated 20,000 sq ft facility for box build and mechanical assembly.

Design & Engineering Services

DFM (Design for Manufacturability) guidelines provided upfront at the design stage to reduce manufacturing iterations and cost. Engineering support for new product introduction (NPI) and prototype development, with a dedicated prototype line for fast turnaround.

Testing & Quality Inspection

Incoming quality inspection, in-process inspection at every stage, AOI post-reflow, X-Ray for BGA and critical components, functional testing and programming as per customer specification, final inspection before dispatch.

Special Processes

Selective conformal coating for PCBAs, tape and reel capability for module manufacturing, vacuum sealing for moisture-sensitive (MSL) components, and ultrasonic welding for enclosures.

Our Differentiators

Why Indian OEMs Choose VIT as Their EMS Partner

Single-Facility Integration

Both PCBA (Plant 1, 25,000 sq ft) and box build/mechanical assembly (Plant 2, 20,000 sq ft) are co-located at our Gottigere campus — reducing handoffs, lead times, and logistics complexity.

Automotive-Grade Quality for Every Customer

IATF 16949:2016 certification is earned by fewer than 2% of manufacturers globally. VIT applies this level of process discipline across all production — not just automotive orders.

Team from India’s Leading OEMs

Our engineering and production leadership brings experience from Schneider, BPL, Motorola, and Honeywell — bringing OEM-grade process thinking to contract manufacturing.

Proactive DFM Partnership

We provide DFM guidelines upfront, before production starts, to reduce design iterations, eliminate avoidable defects, and shorten time-to-market.

Quick Manufacturing Turnaround

SMT, box build, test, and packing completed in 5 days. PCB supply lead time 4–7 days. Total turnkey lead time approximately 30 days.

Dedicated Prototype Line & Strategic Location

Fast-turnaround prototyping without disrupting production schedules. Located at the NICE Road junction, Gottigere, Bangalore. ERP-integrated operations since April 2025 for real-time material tracking and traceability.
